Primary School Students
The "My Classroom Library" project is a multi-stakeholder project developed to increase primary school students' access to books, strengthen reading culture, and enrich classroom learning environments in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. Implemented under the coordination of the Bağlar District Governorship and the Bağlar District Directorate of National Education, the project has, in its initial phase, delivered 51,750 books to schools; established in-class libraries; and created engaging and functional learning spaces.
The project brings the leveled structure of the Reading Tree (OKA) series into practice, aiming to match students with books appropriate to their levels, foster reading habits, and support the development of writing skills. Planned to reach a total of 60 schools, 1,053 classrooms, and approximately 42,000 students, the initiative particularly facilitates students' access to books through in-class libraries.
The pilot implementation was carried out at Gömmetaş Primary School in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. By ensuring that books are directly accessible in classrooms, supporting teachers' in-class use, and transforming learning environments, the project aims to build lasting reading habits among students.

With its sustainable and scalable structure, the project aims to expand to other schools through strong local partnerships. In this respect, "My Classroom Library" stands out as a comprehensive model that not only provides access to books but also transforms learning culture.
We would like to thank the Bağlar District Governorship of the Republic of Turkey, the Bağlar District National Education Directorate, our teachers who contributed to the process with their efforts, the vocational high school teachers and students, TED Bodrum College, Açı Schools, Ofset Printing, and Vakıf k12 employees for their support in making this meaningful project a reality.
